First Lt. Michael Shea of El Paso was one of two helicopter pilots killed during the American evacuation of Vietnam yesterday.
Clarence J. Shea, father of Michael, today was unable to speak about his tragedy. But one of the son's high school coaches gave a little background.
Coach Bob Kirtley said, "Michael Shea was a natural “leader."
He added that Parkland High - school where Shea graduated in 1988 needed leaders back in the 1960's.
Shea was a leader on the athletic field, participating in football, baseball, basketball; and track. "I had the most confidence in Mike in anything he did," Kirtley said.
