Ceilings Treated To Absorb Rattle and Racket Of Dishes
__
Iced air, a new method of cooling the atmosphere during hot weather, will be a feature in the new Hilton hotel dining rooms. This system is different from those in which air is cooled by being “washed” through water. Humidity is kept at a minimum.
Another dining room and coffee shop feature will be the smoothness and noiselessness of operation. The ceiling in both rooms is of gypsum blocks, acoustically treated to absorb the clatter of dishes, rattle of silverware and other noises usually common in eating places.
Decorations of the two rooms are in the modernistic manner, with drapes and lighting fixtures to match. An interesting effect has been obtained by the combination of blue and silver tones. The wainscoting of the dining room is paneled in walnut; the floor is carpeted with rugs which harmonize with the general decorative scheme.
The kitchen is equipped to care for hundreds of diners, and to facilitate service for banquets, luncheons and private parties in private dining rooms, a complete service kitchen has been installed on the mezzanine floor.
