Hilario Rand, who was before Judge Lea in police court yesterday charged with fighting, was given a fine of $25, in default of which he was placed in the city jail. According to the police, rand attempted to steal a kiss from a young Mexican girl on Stanton street yesterday, when the young lady suddenly knocked him in the head with a club. This did not end his troubles, as the employer of the girl appeared at this moment and administered a beating. The man was then arrested and fined in police court yesterday afternoon. On top of all his troubles, he was placed in a solitary cell last night by the officers who could not stand to have him pounding on the jail door every ten minutes.
