276 El Paso Hunters To Take Field In Search Of Meat For Needy
__
Any old hole will look good to west Texas and New Mexico jackrabbits tomorrow.
The long-legged animals, which have been roaming the arroyos and mesas in comparative safety, are shivering in their “boots.” They have been informed that at least 276 El Pasoans, in 47 teams, armed with shotguns, rifles and pistols, will be after them early Sunday when the annual rabbit hunt of the American Legion and El Paso Game Protective association gets underway.
The hunters are expected to comb a radius of 100 miles in their search for sport and at the same time, meat for El Paso’s needy. The territory in which the hunt is to take place is not restricted to any certain area. The hunters may go to any part of this section, provided their hunting licenses are not violated. Dr. Brown W. Randel, president of the game protective association, said last night.
The game is to be delivered to Barney Oden’s service station in Five-Points. A truck will then transport the rabbits to the Associated Charities for distribution.
