UTEP had no trouble defeating a not-so-good SMU team Saturday afternoon; it was a simple workman-like win on the home court. What the Miners (3-1 in C-USA now) need is a breakthrough win - poleax somebody, already!
That could have been achieved in Tulsa in the Miners' previous game, but the always "team-orientated" Hurricane fully bared what fans here knew. Good defense will hogtie UTEP's offense. There are no big offensive sprees on this Miner team.
UTEP has to show it can break free from that bind. It needs to roll over somebody on the road.
Now's the time. UTEP goes on the road for a while, not returning to The Don until into February.
Gotta blast off! Otherwise this will be Coach Tim Floyd's third rebuilding season in a row.
Great effort! Keep it up Miner's - you guys can ball!

What does it matter Joe if UTEP wins by 3 or 30? A win is a win! That's all that counts! You're pathetic!

A Fan,
Better to beat the teams you should beat by 3 than lose to them by 3.
If the season was filled with 1 point wins, wouldn't it be great? UTEP would be conference champs, conference tourney champs and headed to the NCAAs.

I wouldn't count 2010 as a "rebuilding year".

How would it be the third rebuilding season in a row.First year was 25 wins and missed ncaa with 1 point loss to memphis.

I count a coach's first season as rebuilding. Floyd was getting his team(s) onto HIS roster. Geesh, Nathan.

UTEP is gonna have to take care of the next 5 games and cannot lose if we want to hang around at the top of the standings.
Next games @ECU, @ UAB and then at home vs: Tulane, Rice, Tulsa.
All very winnable games and we need those victories if we wanna compete with So Miss and Memphis for first place. So Miss is now 5-0 in CUSA and just beat Marshall 102-46.
