Some Houston Cougar basketball boosters don't think Coach Tom Penders has lived up to his billing as a builder of a top-25 program. Indeed, Houston is not getting better, even though it's one of the nation's largest cities.
Houston's new AD is former UTEP associate AD Mack Rhoades. He was in Utepia when Billy Gillispie turned the Miners back into an NCAA Tournament team. Gillispie fizzled at Kentucky. Could Houston be more his style.
Word here is that Rhoades liked Gillispie a lot
Surely Penders has a contract. Surely Houston has money.
A lot of people in Houston do want Penders gone. Could be interesting.

Money talks, and we all know Billy Clyde will listen if the money starts talking. Billy Clyde will put enjoying time with his mother on hold if the deal is right. Houston makes perfect sense for Billy, he gets back to Texas where he is comfortable. Can build a pretty decent program for 3-4 years at Houston, then he will be ready for the second act of his rise to the top.

Gillespie is nothing but a loud mouth clown. Showed his true colors at UK. He won at UTEP, because of two players, Thomas and Rivera, in a mediocre conference. Won at A&M with the previous coaches' players. When he has to build a team in a competitive conference, he'll fall on his face again. Smart guy for taking the money, ignorant and gullible AD's for dishing it out.

Wow... loud mouth clown? Kentucky ran him out of town because their players are full of prima donnas and wimps. UTEP and A&M succeeded with him because they bought into his no excuses, play your butt off mentality. He's a good coach and will have his time to shine away from the snobby fan bases of world, like the Wildcats.
