Miners-Aggies on live TV

Time Warner Cable says Saturday's UTEP basketball game at New Mexico State will be shown live in El Paso on basic cable TV.

It's 6 p.m. on Metro Sports, Channel 24.

It's part of the Aggies' TV package.

Recall that between ESPN and the Aggies' own TV deal with Time Warner, El Paso got eight Aggie football games this fall, while there were no UTEP games shown on basic cable here.

Conference USA's TV deal is with CSTV, and UTEP is in C-USA. UTEP is apparently powerless to get its games on TV. Dump CSTV. It's a travesty that Miner fans can't watch the games on basic cable TV, especially road games. This is 2007 when just about every game of every school is available on TV in its market.

Miners fans took it on the chin this year: Higher ticket prices and no TV.
