Those who have been around UTEP coach Tim Floyd always come away impressed with his knowledge of the game, with his mastery of the X's and O's.
Floyd recently received a nice compliment in that area.
Pete Gillen, the former head coach at Xavier, Providence and Virginia, now does commentary for the CBS Sports Network. Last week at the Conference USA Tournament in Memphis, Gillen said he had asked Valparaiso head coach Bryce Drew "other than your dad (famed coach Homer Drew), who did you learn the most basketball from?"
Gillen said Drew told him Rudy Tomjanovich and Tim Floyd. Bryce Drew, an outstanding player for Valparaiso, played for Tomjanovich with the Houston Rockets and for Floyd with the New Orleans Hornets.
