UTEP played well in Oregon, losing 64-59 to an Oregon team that was 4-1 at the time. However, the Miners made just 6-of-16 free throws in that game while Oregon made 16-of-19. Clearly the difference.
Normally, players are expected to practice free throws on their own time. It is simply what you do. But this week, with final exams going on, the Miners have a bit more practice time (away from the normal class schedule). So UTEP coach Tim Floyd has been having the Miners shoot free throws for almost an hour before the regular practice session begins. The managers chart makes and misses, so there is some consequence to the shooting.
This Miner team will eventually be a pretty good shooting club and they will shoot free throws much better than they did in Oregon. It is simply a question of relaxing and fitting into the flow of the college game. Most of these guys can shoot it.
mean I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good but since I'm more of a visual learner,I found that to be more helpful.
