They may be going in opposite directions but how much of that is based on the teams they've played? There's no SWAC team on the State schedule. UTEP has only played 1 winning team in this young season, NMSU has played 1 team that isn't above .500, that's Kansas who happens to be 2-2 in the Big XII. NMSU is playing the 3rd best team in the nation this week, by contrast UTEP is playing the 3rd worst team in the nation, according to SI. http://www.elpasotimes.com/sports/ci_16191814
