The 2011 football schedule has been announced ... well, at least in Jayhawk land.
The schedule has UTEP traveling to Lawrence for a game on Sept. 24, 2011.
Road trip!

Smart move by the "Jay"hawks to schedule UTEP 2 years from now instead of 2010. UTEP's QB Vittatoe and all of this year's veteran offensive linemen, receivers along with the TE and RB will have graduated and this way Kansas will have a good chance of winning that one. One has to wonder why they didn't play UTEP back-to-back years like the Longhorns? At first glance it would appear that KS looks smart but other glances will see them as being affraid of the 2010 Miners. Go Miners! Yes We Can !

Most likely had nothing to do with who the Miners had coming back. More likely it was the most convenient spot for Kansas to put the Miners on the schedule.

Perhaps you are correct gaston but one still has to wonder since Kansas is "bringing in NMSU next year" and then
"bringing in UTEP in 2011" and both on almost the exact same dates only one year apart. Why didn't Kansas reverse those two and do the back-to-back thing with UTEP like Texas and Texas Tech did ? My impression is that they are indeed smart but, in turn, look scared of UTEP in 2010. Go Miners ! Yes We Can !

This isn't on topic, but does anyone else find the new navigation to the blogs very useful/easy?
I am thinking reader contributions in the Times sports blog is going to fall off considerably.

It doesnt matter if we play them next year or in 2011. the results will pretty much be the same a tight close game that we drop in the end. sorry but its the truth

totally unrelated but who can i complain to about the time change. for years ive loved UTEP football because of the night games n now they come up with a afternoon game. dont like it i'll stay home for those

Sorry javi but it does matter, that's why KS scheduled UTEP that way. To think otherwise is to be naive. As for the time change, well, most schools schedule their late fall games in the afternoon to encourage tailgaters and larger crowds in colder weather. If you've been to the Sun Bowl the last few years the crowd has been thin and the weather "freezing" especially Senior Night which is pretty unbearable and not many people are staying to watch the scorebaord tribute to the UTEP Seniors after that game because of the bitter cold temps. I have to wonder if you stayed javi? Afternoon games late in the fall will increase attendance...it's a fact
...Go Miners ! Yes We Can !
