So here's our weekly look at Bruce Feldman's bowl projections.
I've bashed the ESPN writer in weeks past for his seemingly misinformed selections with Conference USA teams. This week Bruce's picks make a little more sense.
UTEP is headed to the St. Petersburg Bowl to face Cincinnati, Feldman says, a postseason game that his fellow writer Mark Schlabach had the Miners in back in early October. For the record, Schlabach puts UTEP in the R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl this week against Troy, perhaps figuring the Miners may struggle this week against Rice, which rolled to a 42-17 win over Tulane on Saturday. As for Feldman, I can dig on his pick, too. The Miners have no gimmie game this weekend. And they still need to win three to even become bowl eligible. So the St. Pete Bowl, a lower-rung destination for Conference USA, is totally believable.
I was about to lay off Bruce this week. But the team I'm loving to hate on these days stays on his list. Feldman still thinks Tulane is making a bowl. This week, he's got them playing Troy in the New Orleans Bowl. Tulane is 2-5 after getting drubbed by that Owl team coming to El Paso this week. The Green Wave needs to win four of their last five to become bowl eligible. And don't count on Tulane starting their quest this week on the road against No. 15 LSU. So that means the Wave has to win its last four games and only one of those is at home. And one of those road games is at Tulsa, which may be looking to make some BCS commotion if it can get by Arkansas two weeks before its date with Tulane. So Green Wave, I'd hate to keep harping on you, but you're not making a bowl.
No matter what Bruce says.

OK - Let's talk about improving the season before we consider bowl games.
I'm a UTEP fan to the core, but come on!

So is Mike Price, throwing his name into the hat to perhaps coach University Of Washington for next season? After their coach (Williamington) is told to resign after this season... hmmmmm i wonder??

Lets be realistic, price won't leave for washington. Don't think they are interested. I also think price will retire here. Thanks to si, he doesn't need anymore money and they way he is treated here, he will retire here
