As always, my timing is impeccable. Within 30 minutes of my posting this, UTEP announced Coach Price will be returning for another season. He has one year left on his contract and UTEP probably is not in a position to deal with a payout followed by yet another coaching search. The athletic department has many other fish to fry.

I can't say it changes my sentiments. I don't know what you can do for this program with a coach who is only going to be here for another year. Unless UTEP offers him a contract extension, recruiting is going to be difficult because of what other schools will say to undermine the Miners.

Mike Price has been good for UTEP and is, whether or not fans want to acknowledge it, one of the best coaches the program has ever had.

But recruiting issues, the fact that attendance has no spark even when the team wins...just that no one really believes anymore -- it all says to me that it's time to switch it up.

Oh, well...

UTEP has just done the unbelieveable and retain Coach Price. I ask you Duke don't sell this town short. I mean have you done your homework as far as looking at affordable coaches with plenty of upside. Look at Jeff Grimes OL coach at Auburn which is a UTEP alum just to start. UTEP was held hostage by Price to begin with. By this administration not having some back-up plan to buy out this lame-duck coach contract. This university will suffer next season, so way to go UTEP. YOU STRUCK PAYDIRT, DUMMIES!!!!!

It’s amazing how irresponsible a post like yours is, to say that Prices has to go because people have lost interest is just plain dumb. What is this going to accomplish? We are going to lose a great coach and how exactly are we going to bring in? Is that person going to magically fix attendance and winning? Don't you think the problem goes further than the head coach? How exactly is Price or anybody going to recruit any top talent to bring to El Paso? Instead of being part of the problem, how bout you become part of the solution? Be thankful that we have Mike Price as out coach, and focus on the real problem, El Pasoans lack of pride and appreciation for one of its gems, THE UTEP MINERS!
