Call it the Brute Sun Bowl.
The University of Oklahoma used defensive dominance to power their way by the 19th-ranked Stanford Cardinal, 31-27, winning the Sooners their first bowl game since 2005.
It took awhile, though, as OU trailed at the half, 24-17, after turning the ball over and letting Heisman Trophy runner-up Toby Gerhart run over them.
The second half was a much different story.
Head coach Bob Stoops breathes a little easier after a Bowl Championship Series of miscues...
As for the Sooners players, you could tell this was a team happy to be on the winning end of a bowl game for the first time in five seasons.
