The Plaza Theatre's Ashley Tantimonaco tells me that funnyman Gabriel "Picachu" Iglesias, aka Fluffy, has decided to tape his next Comedy Central special at the Plaza, possibly sometime in mid-April.
A quick glance at his itinerary suggests that'll be sometime between April 6 and 16. Iglesias has previously announced show April 3-5 in Fort Lauderdale and 17-19 in Chicago.
"We just found out they selected our venue this morning," she said Wednesday, Dec. 17, adding: "We are thrilled to show off our spectacular theater and host such a fun special."
She hopes to have more details very soon.
The cable comedy channel and the California big man, known for his girth, Hawaiian shirts, characters and sound effects, have been good for one another. He was ranked in the top 25 of the network's "Standup Showdown" from 2004 to '06.
He's been on TV most of his life, including Gala's "Que Locos!," Nickelodeon's "All That," NBC's "Last Comic Standing" and a long list of guest appearances. He's been on virtually every stand-up comedy show on Comedy Central.
