Can't travel to be a contestant on TV?
Stick around.
A local take-off on "Dancing with the Stars" will bring "Dancing" alum and "Extra" host Mario Lopez to the Plaza Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3.
He'll host "Dance for Kids' Sake," a show that will feature 30 local business and media types — including Power 102's Mike Dee and Monica Castillo, KVIA's Karla Huelga and Asher Wildman, Assistant County Attorney Erich Morales — tripping the light fantastic (or just tripping). They'll be coached by El Paso Ballroom Dance Academy faculty.
It's a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso.
Tickets are $100, $75 for children, on sale at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and 800.745.3000, or call 544-4203 to make a donation.
Fremantle Media, the company behind "American Idol" and "X Factor," is bringing "The Price is Right, Live!" to the Plaza at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18.
It's a touring version of the long-running CBS game show, similar to stage shows at casinos in Las Vegas and a few other cities.
It'll have a host, as yet unnamed, and contestants will be drawn from the local audience. Registration to be on the show will be three hours before show time.
Tickets are $27.50 and $37.50, plus service charges, on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at the box, Ticketmaster and 800.745.3000.
Finally, it looks like a touring version of Mexican TV kids talent show "Pequenos Gigantes" will come to the Coliseum at 5 p.m. Sept. 23. I say look because shows like this have a tendency to get canceled a week or two after they go on sale.
Tickets are $17 to $47, plus service charges, on sale at the Coliseum box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and 800.745.3000.
