Rascall Flatts, one of the most commercially successful country-pop acts of the last 10 years, will bring its "Live & Loud" tour to NMSU's Pan Am Center on Oct. 3.
The tour, announced Friday in Nashville, launches May 31 and will play 34 cities. Las Cruces is the penultimate date on the circuit, which will end Oct. 4 in Lubbock.
It's in support of last year's "Changed" album, their seventh straight to top the Billboard Country charts.
The support bill will feature the Band Perry, who opened for Brad Paisley at Pan Am last year. Their new album, "Pioneer," comes out April 2.
Opening the show will be Cassadee Pope, who won Season 3 of NBC's "The Voice."
No ticket prices or on-sale date have been announced for the NMSU show.
Also, our sister paper, the Las Cruces Sun-News, reported that Vince Gill and his wife, Amy Grant, will bring their "Simply Christmas" tour to the Pan Am Center on Dec. 10. They'll have quite a backing band — conductor Lonnie Klein and the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra.
The report didn't include any ticket details.
In that same story, retired NMSU Special Events Director and queen of local venue operators, Barbara "Mother" Hubbard, said that chance of Paul McCartney performing Memorial Day weekend (May 26, I hear) at Aggie Memorial Stadium was "looking very good."
The show is not official, but unless something unexpected happens, an announcement could be coming any day now.
Thanks to reader Robert Arriaga on the RF and VG/AG tip. Turns out my Flatts tour announcement was stuck in a junk folder, the other I heard nothing about.
