I'm in Phoenix for the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band show, the last American show on the second U.S. leg of the "Wrecking Ball" tour, which played Thursday night at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale. It was his first show since receiving three Grammy nominations for "Wrecking Ball" on Wednesday, and having his album named No. 1 album of the year by Rolling Stone.
As has been the case on this tour, Springsteen's wife and E Streeter Patti Scialfa was not present ("She's in my heart," he said during the nightly "roll call"), but the 17-member group was joined by Phoenix resident Sam Moore of Sam and Dave fame on Wilson Pickett's "634-5789," Garland Jeffreys on "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out," and the late Clarence Clemons' son Jared Clemons made an appearance during "Freeze-Out."
