Things are about to get Kinky next month at the Lowbrow Palace.
The Mexican rockers will bring their first U.S. tour of the fall to the LB on Dec. 19. It's in support of acclaimed new album "Sueno de la Maquina," released June 26 on Nacional Records.
The group is up for Best Alternative Album and Best Alternative Song (for "Negro Dia") at the 13th Latin Grammy Awards, which will air live from Las Vegas on Nov. 15 on Univision.
They'll follow that with a Nov. 24 show in their hometown of Monterrey with an eight-city U.S. swing starting Dec. 2 in San Francisco.
The quintet, which mixes border music with rock and '80s dance, was one of the highlights of the first Neon Desert Music Festival in 2011. Splendid Sun Productions, the Austin group that puts on NDMF, also books most of the shows at the Lowbrow.
No ticket details have been announced yet.
In other concert news:
• While pondering whether the new arena we're going to get will change things, I noticed two items of local interest from this year's Billboarding Touring Awards, which were handed out Nov. 8.
Lady Antebellum, who water-tested their first arena headlining show last Nov. 21 at the Coliseum, won the Breakthrough Award for a tour that went on to play to more than 1 million people in 11 countries since January.
Also, ventriloquist and comedian Jeff Dunham, who returns to the Chavez Theatre on Dec. 14, was given the Top Comedy Award for the second year in a row, essentially meaning that he's the top-drawing comedian in the country.
Roger Waters' "The Wall Live" was the top-grossing tour of the year, while Bruce Springsteen (coming to Phoenix on Dec. 6) sold the most tickets.
• I see Soundgarden's winter tour in support of new album "King Animal" (due Nov. 13) will play theaters January through mid-February.
There's no El Paso date, or Texas dates, for that matter on the itinerary announced today, but wouldn't that be a sweet one for the Chavez or Plaza theaters?
• Veteran Jamaican reggae trio the Meditations, who've sung backup for Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff, will headline a Reggae Dance Party at 9 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Lowbrow.
Radio La Chusma and Steady Shakedown will open the show.

• I didn't know, or remember that there was an El Paso WinterCon, but the fourth annual edition of the anime-centric event will be 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Judson F. Williams Convention Center.
Voice actor Greg Ayres ("Deadman Wonderland," "Samurai 7"), Texas-based costumer Familliar Nori and DJ Howie Rivet will be among those appearing.
Panels, cosplay, games and contests also are planned.
The Sun City's had some bad luck with these things of late. The third El Paso Comic Con was a mess, and the second Frank-N-Con was canceled altogether.
The fact this one has a grassroots feel to it, is going into its fourth year and done that under-the-radar is encouraging. These people seem to have it together.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, on sale at Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and 800-745-3000.
