Peter Kolar, who is director of the El Paso Diocesan Festival Choir, will mark the release of his new CD "Variations" with a concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at St. Stephen Deacon and Martyr Parish, 1700 George Dieter.
Billed as "A Diocesan Choral Celebration," it will feature the Catholic Diocese of El Paso choir and a solo performance by Kolar, a Detroit native and Chicago transplant, on piano.
The concert is free, but donations for the Seminary Endowment Fund will be accepted.
"Variations" is a solo piano CD. Kolar, senior editor of Hispanic music and publications for World Library Publications, coproduced it with fellow pianist Billy Townes.
"It's classical in nature," he said, "but the thematic material is primarily sacred hymns, along with a few original classical and liturgical compositions."
The CD is available for $17 at wlp.jspaluch.com/317.htm.
