What could be better than seeing "Ben-Hur" on the big screen at the Plaza Theatre?
Maybe seeing it — and its nine-minute chariot race — on an even bigger screen in XD.
Cinemark's Tinseltown 20 will be one of 54 movie theaters across the country to show the restored, 50th anniversary edition of the 1959 classic "Ben-Hur" on Feb. 2.
The chain, based in Plano, and Warner Bros. Pictures teamed up for the special screenings of an XD print, which will be at 2 and 7 p.m. that day.
XD is a Cinemark technology that approximates the IMAX movie experience, which should lend itself well to director William Wyler's 11-time Academy Award-winning epic, which starred Charlton Heston.
Tickets are $11, $8.50 for seniors and children, on sale at the theater box office and cinemark.com.
