Jackie Burns will play Elphaba and Chandra Lee Schwartz will play Glinda when "Wicked" comes to the Plaza Theatre Feb. 1-12, 2012.
There are two casts on the Tony Award-winning musicals North American tour, which typically goes to about 30 markets for a minimum of 10 days per stop.
Burns was in the Broadway revival of "Hair!" Schwartz was in national tours of "High School Musical," "Hairspray" and "Gypsy."
According to the "Wicked" website, other principals in that particular cast, which started the 2010-2011 leg of touring last month, are Randy Danson as Madame Morrible and Gene Weygandt as the Wizard, a role he's played on Broadway and in the Chicago production.
"We'll get 16 shows over that time span, part of the Plaza's 2011-2012 Broadway in El Paso series.
The casting was confirmed by a representative of Chicago's Jam Theatricals, which books the Broadway series and is promoting the show's local dates.
Tickets won't go on sale for a long time, but groups up 20 or more can get on a reservation list by calling 231.1111.
Theater officials said at a Tuesday presentation, part of a promotional tour by the musical's producers, that 2010-2011 season ticket holders get first crack at renewing subscriptions for the 2011-2012 season.
Those season ticketholders will get preference for "Wicked" tickets.
The 2011-2012 season will be announced in the spring, when those season tickets will go on sale.
Individual tickets probably won't go on sale until several months after that.
No ticket prices have been announced. They probably won't be cheap, but they probably will be reasonable compared to other markets.
