Cindy Bickford, who played drums for the KHEY Band, Charlie Russell Band and others, died early this morning.
She was 57, according to fellow musician Jerry M. Shapiro.
"I was privileged to play music with her," said Shapiro, who was in the KHEY and Russell bands with her, as well as Northern Pass and Texas.
"Cindy was a dear friend, accomplished musician, mainly a fine drummer and vocalist," said Shapiro.
He also said Bickford was once a teacher of the year at Desertaire Elementary School, and was a co-owner of A2B Driving School.
"She was a kind, and loving person, great with kids and a wonderful, supportive band member," he said.
Bickford was battling cancer at the time of her death, he said.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Aug. 21 at Northeast Bible Fellowship Church, 5505 Threadgill.
