Local historian (and El Paso Times columnist) Leon Metz will devote the Saturday, Feb. 27 edition of "The Leon Metz Show" to his friend and former agent, Charlie Russell, the local radio and country music titan who died Feb. 22 at age 73.
The live, special edition of Metz's show will air from noon to 12:25 p.m. Saturday, immediately after the regular edition of the historian's show, on KTSM-AM (690).
"It is live with phone calls from people who knew Charlie and anyone who has a Charlie Russell story to tell," said Jackson Polk, Metz's co-host. "We will replay the Clear Channel Radio 9-minute feature tribute that first aired on all El Paso Clear Channel Radio stations last Tuesday (Feb. 23) morning at 8 a.m."
KTSM is part of Clear Channel, for which Russell worked as an account executive until his death.
The call-in number is 544-KTSM.
Meanwhile, don't forget the Charlie Russell tribute concert set for 6 p.m. March 7 at Dallas Nights Country Saloon.
