If you've never seen it, the Silos Aerosol Art Space Gallery is a very cool, very colorful, very unusual art gallery. It's literally a bunch of concrete silos at 1943 W. Paisano, next to the Rescue Mission of El Paso on the other side of I-10 from UTEP.
It's the site of "Break Yo' Self!," the second annual graffiti and art show, billed as an "all family" event and a benefit for the Rescue Mission. Admission will be items donated for the mission, including paper goods, coffee and other things that are helpful to the homeless and transients who use it.
This year's show will be from 4-10 p.m. April 23, with an after-party at Black Market. You can check out the creations, which include works by graff artists who pass through town, by appointment on April 25-26.
Artists who'll participate include LA's CRE8, local artist and Silos curator Dave Grave and paint teams from LA, EP and Juarez.
Music will be provided by Sons of Villa, Chavalera and DJs RayDub, Systemaddict and Zeque.
There will be demos, including appearances by the Roller City Girls and Team Crooks.
Organizers also will have a paint session at the Barn Yard, 1600 Delta, on April 24-25, but you have to apply for space by emailing gravester8@gmail.com or lossilos@myspace.com.
