If, like me, you were a denizen of certain El Paso bars in the 1980s, then you'll remember the fiery Texas blues guitarist Long John Hunter.
Once a fixture at the Lobby Bar in Juarez, Long John's gone on to national recognition since his departure from El Paso for Phoenix, where he's now based.
Hunter's only released eight albums in the last 21 years, according to San Francisco-based Blues Express, which issued the ninth album, "Looking for a Party," on Oct. 20.
The 11-song collection was produced by Dennis Walker, best known for his breakthrough work with Robert Cray (including "Strong Persuader").

Long John hates to be classified as a blues player. He prefers to be known as an entertainer. And yes I know him and have had him tell me this more than a few times.
