The Tuesday, Nov. 3 Widespread Panic show is officially canceled, according to promoter AEG Live and Chavez Theatre operators SMG.
Refunds are available at the point of purchase. Go to ticketmaster.com or call 800.745.3000 if you have questions.
You may recall that the original word was it was postponed, implying a makeup date was in the offing. As of Thursday, the band's web site still called it a postponement, but Ticketmaster's site listed it as canceled.
So I asked. Late Thursday I got an announcement from SMG that it was canceled.
Scheduling conflicts were listed as the reason for the cancellation, but we all know it was a box-office stiff. Too bad. I think that's the kind of show that would have an appreciative, if not sold-out audience, had it been promoted more visibly. But there's no obvious radio station to get involved — it's not like the Q plays their music — and things like that make it harder to sell artists like Widespread Panic in a market like ours.

Take a look at how many great shows came to EP when HERO was around and sold well. Before the flame wars start..I like the Q, but without any local radio support these bands just will not make the trip. The unfortunate part about that is that we also do not get to hear great new music all the time either.

True that, Jack. It's sad but Las Cruces' The Rocket plays newer alt rock and they really do rock. We need their station in EP. HERO was awesome.

I was looking forward to the show. Had heard nothing but good things about WP live shows. Oh well guess I'll have to go somewhere else to go see them.
