Concert update: Mudvayne, Staind
Just a quick note to advise you Mudvayne fans that the unofficial word is that their buy-a-CD/buy-a-ticket plan that has caused so much consternation behind the scenes may be modified well before the tour opens at the Coliseum on Oct. 28.
In fact, my sources tell me, we could sell tickets going on sale at Ticketmaster outlets within a week.
Right now, the only way to get tickets is to order the new CD, "The New Game," at bestbuy.com/mudvayne. Once that's done, you'll get a code, which you enter in on thealbumistheticket.com site and that will allow you to order tickets.
It's a pretty unwieldy system, obviously cooked up by managers, agents and record company types to drive CD sales and cut down on scalping. Problem is, it's confusing and may cut down on sales to those fans who maybe aren't as hardcore as others.
Either way, it looks like those of you who don't care about the one-year fan club membership that comes with the deal will get your shot.
The band has been working on yet another album, due next year, at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo.
In other news, expect an announcement by Monday for Staind's Nov. 30 Coliseum show with Seether and Papa Roach. Don't know how much tickets are just yet, but they could go on sale by Oct. 4.
