The No. 2-ranked Bel Air Highlanders picked up a tough 62-55 win against No. 3 Franklin on Tuesday night at home. The win put Bel Air in first in District 1-5A with a record of 9-1, while Franklin is 8-2.
The Highlanders got 23 points from Alanis Candelaria and 19 from Jacinda Woodruff. Great effort by these two guards. Woodruff and Candelaria both made clutch baskets and made key defensive plays or assists when the team needed it. Franklin was right there all night, but Bel Air deserved the victory and it is now one game closer to winning the district title for the second straight year.

If Bel Air is #2, Franklin #3.. Then who's ranked #1? Aren't these the best two teams in girls basketball in the city? Who's ahead?

Chapin is ranked #1 with a record of 22-4 and Bel Air is #2 with a record of 23-2. Bel Air defeated Chapin in a tournament at the beginning of the season. Don't get me wrong Chapin is a good team, but who should be ranked number 1? I guess Chapin will keep number 1 because they will never play Bel Air again. Just compare Bel Air's schedule to Chapin and then decide who is number 1. Honestly, I don't understand the ranking system.
