The Franklin Cougars, ranked No. 2 in El Paso, looked strong in a 34-14 win against San Angelo Central on Friday night in Midland in the Class 5A bi-district football playoffs. The 10-1 Cougars played a strong defensive game. Earlier this season San Angelo Central scored 40 points against FHS, but on Friday, the Bobcats offense couldn't get going on a consistent basis. Franklin got some good pressure on the SAC quarterback and didn't give up many big plays.
The Franklin offense worked well again. QB Cameron Candelaria rushed for 5 TDs and 200 yards to lead the way. Franklins's offensive line did a nice job especially in the first half when FHS led 20-0 at the break. Next up for FHS is a date with Arlington Bowie in next week's area round playoffs.
