Four El Paso teams remain in this weekend's Class 4A football playoffs: Andress, Burges, Chapin and Horizon.
Andress faces Lubbock Monterey, Burges meets Hereford, Chapin battles Amarillo and Horizon takes on Frenship. Burges (9-2) might have the best shot when it faces 5-6 Hereford, which was an upset winner against Canyon Randall in the bi-district round last weekend. If Burges can take care of the ball and use its speed it has a big chance to advance to the third round.
Chapin will have to play its best defensive game of the year against Amarillo's Wing-T offense if it wants to advance. The Huskies have won 10 straight games.
Andress is playing its best football of the year and will need a big performance from QB Ryan Metz if it is going to advance.
Horizon is playing in its second area round game in the past three years and if the Scorpions are going to upset Frenship, they will need to take care of the ball and shorten the game by going on some long scoring drives.
The El Paso 4A teams all have a chance to win and I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple teams move on to the third round next weekend.
