El Paso High School's hiring of Jorge Quintero is an interesting hire. The former Parkland standout spent the past several years coaching under Peter Morales at Bowie and Anthony Morgan at Plano West and learned from two very successful coaches. Quintero himself was a good player and played collegiately at Sul Ross State.
Quintero should help revitalize a Tigers program which has struggled in recent years and he has plenty of energy. His Tigers will play in a difficult district with Andress, Burges and Chapin among others, but he'll have time to rebuild and restock his El Paso High squad. Expect the Tigers to be a team that plays hard, pushes the ball and plays tough defense.
Quintero was a local basketball star in the 1990s and now he gets a chance to come back home and put his stamp on a program.
