The Montwood girls soccer program made an interesting hire this week when it tabbed Cathy Dickason to be the head coach. She replaces Jerry Paugh, who was this year's El Paso Times' Coach of the Year. Paugh coached the Rams to the fourth round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Dickason is a longtime high school volleyball and soccer coach in the area, who has coached both boys and girls teams. She played basketball and volleyball at UTEP and was a member of UTEP's first women's basketball team during the 1974-75 season.
Dickason joins a program that has been very good in recent years. Dickason has coached for many years in El Paso and really wants to be an example for young athletes in many respects both on and off the field. Dickason is an interesting figure who has great energy and great knowledge of sports.
Montwood girls soccer has made a name of itself in recent years and don't be surprised to see Dickason continue making the Rams a consistent winner.
