Anthony shouldn't be in a 3A league. They have more in common with teams like Van Horn, Tornillo, Fort Hancock and some of the local private schools. They need to switch Anthony to an independent for sports like basketball to give their teams a fair chance to win games. What a travesty it was to me when I read that Anthony had El Paso big schools in its tournament. That's wrong, wrong, wrong. An 0-6 record affects the Anthony community in a very negative way. Give the poor kids a chance to win.

Winning in high school ball is half getting your team ready and half scheduling. And Anthony's scheduling for such a small school is ridiculous.

Just checked the attendance numbers on the net:
Anthony 236
Fabens 725
Presidio 449
Pecos 641
Clint 482
Mountain View 956
Putting a school at 236 students against much bigger schools is bad for morale.
This all boils down to scheduling. I think the AD is scheduling these big schools and even some El Paso schools in non-district because it's convenient. It probably makes economic sense, too.
But it's just not right. If my child was an Anthony student, I wouldn't allow my child to play in the athletic program because they're putting the kids at an extremely unfair competitive disadvantage.

Nacho Macho,
thats good your child doesnt play at anthony....his/her self esteem is shot as it is wherever that person is. if all you care is about winning and winning, and not learning lifes lessons thru athletics, you nacho do not know what life is all about. you even said it your self. ECONOMICS! asking the AD to travel over 200 miles tuesday and friday to play games every week is absurd. whose morale are you talking about? i bet you anything, if anthony plays a small schoo schedule , it would not make a big difference.
