Lubbock Coronado, who narrowly defeated Franklin in three games in the regional quarterfinals, clinched a spot in the Class 5A baseball tournament on Saturday. The Mustangs offense, which Franklin controlled with the exception of one game, paved the way.
The news is probably bittersweet for the Cougars. On the one hand, the players and coaches know that they lost to the best team. On the other hand, Franklin had a good opportunity to beat Coronado and possibly get to Austin.
Here's a quote from the Lubbock Coronado coach after the Franklin series: "Franklin's a great team. Probably the best we've seen or played all season."

Unfortunately, that's what Midland Lee, Plano, and LD Bell are also saying, as Franklin and these three other teams had Lubbock Coronado on the ropes with 8 total elimination games. Coronado was able to win all eight, and now face two more elimination games in Austin. Whata, coulda, shoulda!

Good stuff as per usual, thanks. I do hope this kind of thing gets more exposure.
