Hanks shortstop Mike Bernal signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Oklahoma State Univeristy.
Bernal has been a key member of the Knigths baseball team his entire high school career and said he looks forward to joining the Cowboys.
"It's been a dream of mine to play in college," Bernal said. "Oklahoma State has a very rich baseball tradition."
Bernal's older brother Hector Bernal, also a Hanks graduate, signed with El Paso Community College and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006. He played the past season with the El Paso Diablos.
"I want to keep playing as far as I can too," Mike Bernal said. "Of course I want to follow in his steps."
In attendance to see Bernal sign was his family, but also several friends of his including former coaches and members of the Diablos staff.
"It's really amazing to see how many people came to the signing," Bernal said. "It's like a little weight is off my back. I can go into this season without having to worry."
