FINAL: Socorro 3, Flower Mound 1

MIDLAND - Tavi Amparan struck out the final batter in the top of the seventh to end the game and send Socorro into the regional finals after sweeping Flower Mound 2-0 with a 3-1 victory Saturday mornings at Citibank Ball Park in Midland.
Socorro only recorded three hits for the entire ballgame, but was able to move runners and take advantage of Flower Mound mistakes.
With six innings under him, Amparan has retired 16 of 23 batters with four strikeouts. He is three outs away from a complete game victory.
Corey Falvey came in from third base on a wild pitch to give Socorro a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Going into the top of the sixth inning, Tavi Amparan is still on the mound.
The Socorro High School baseball team leads Flower Mound 2-1 after the first inning in Game 2 of its Class 5A regional semifinal series Saturday at Citibank Ball Park.
Flower Mound took a 1-0 lead to begin the game. Socorro then went on top 2-1 that same inning when Aaron Olivas doubled in George Stoltz then later came in on a Jaguar throwing error.
