Just some extra notes on the El Paso Times 2008 all-city girls and boys MVP's, who were chosen by city wrestling coaches.
Eastwood graduate Eddie Noriega was more than just a dominating wrestler for the Troopers. The 6-foot-6, 285-pounder also was involved in honors choir, musical theater and varsity football. As a football player, Noriega was a ferocious all-city defensive lineman. I still remember the takedown he put on Hanks quarterback Branden Livingston in the senior all-star game - a pure wrestling move. And it will be football, not wrestling, which Noriega will play in college, where he has a scholarship to Western New Mexico.
With Han, her family has as much to do with her success as her own inner drive to be the best in everything she does. I would think you'd need some motivation to keep up all that she does - wrestling, academics (No. 2 in her 2009 graduating class), kickboxing and boxing. It seems everyone has a specific role in lending Han a helping hand. Older sister Jennifer helps with her boxing and acts as a motivator, twin sister Heather is in her corner when it comes to wrestling, her brothers are sparring partners who help with her technique and Dad instills discipline. This is a young lady who hardely ever rests, and having such overwhelming family support is providing the foundation for future success.

OHH YES THE HARDEST AND TOUGHEST SPORT OF WRESTLING HAS STARTED AND WE HAVE ALL THE TOP HIGH SCHOOLS WITH VERY TOUGH WRESTLERS TEAMS LIKE FRANKLIN, HANKS, EASTWOOD, CHAPIN AND WHY NOT SOCORRO H.S. BOYS ARE TOUGH

I JUST WANT TO SAY SOMETHING, I AM VERY UPSET BECAUSE THE MAJORITY OF HIGH SCHOOL GUYS DO NOT WANT TO JOIN THIS TOUGH SPORT OF WRESTLING. I'VE TALKED TO SOME COACHES IN HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING AND ALL SAY THE SAME THING. BEFORE WRESTLING SEASON STARTS YOU HAVE THE WRESTLING ROOM FULL WITH GUYS WANTING TO JOIN, IT GETS PACKED WITH FOOTBALL PLAYERS AND IT ALWAYS HAPPENS THAT THESE KIDS GET SCARED OF JOINING THE TEAM??? WHY IS THAT, IS IT REALLY HARD TO WRESTLE FOR YOUR HIGH SCHOOL?? I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IN ALL THE HIGH SCHOOLS YOU ONLY HAVE 8 TO 10 KIDS OF THE WHOLE SCHOOL WRESTLING VARSITY???THAT IS REALLY SAD BECAUSE SOME SCHOOLS LIKE YSLETA, RIVERSIDE, BEL AIR JUST HAVE LIKE 3 WRESTLERS, THAT IS SAD.......
