Emotions of the U.S. Bowling Congress Women's Championships

The emotions ran high during competition at the U.S. Bowling Congress Women's Championships. (Top photos) Kim Smith experienced the agony of a near miss and Robin Bauer felt the ecstacy of picking up a difficult spare Thursday. Debbie Benon (middle photo) shared the joy of a good roll with those in the stands while Yolanda McQuart (sequence at bottom) used body english to encourage pins to fall and then headed to accept congratulatory high fives of teammates and competitors. Despite the high level of competitive intensity, there was also a high level of sportsmanship on display.

U.S. Bowling Congress Women's Championships Friday Action

The strikes and spares and high fives continued Friday at the United States Bowling Congress Women's Championships at the El Paso convention center's 48-lane bowling alley. The championships continue through July 3.

6 week time lapse of bowling center construction

Here is a 6-week time lapse of the construction of the 48-lane bowling center for the USBC Women's Championship's starting this Saturday. My camera has been at the Judson F. Williams Convention Center for 6 weeks capturing between 10 frames and 4 frames per hour, depending on the day's construction. The final show crams 2,068 images into a five minute stop animation show. We are still shooting until the ladies take to the lanes and begin bowling so look for the updated final edition of the slide show.
