More than 100 people -- many bundled up against a cutting wind -- attended a Veterans Day ceremony at Old Glory Memorial in Northeast El Paso on Nov. 11. "Today was all about thanking veterans in our community and showing them respect on Veterans Day," said Jimmy Melver, president of the nonprofit group that runs Old Glory Memorial. The memorial, established in 2003, flies the American flag on a 180-foot-tall pole and features plaques and other landmarks dedicated to honoring American service members.
