Senate previously approved companion bill
The state House of Representatives voted unanimously today for a bill that would help shield suppliers and manufacturers at Spaceport America from liability lawsuits.
The original vote was announced as 65-0. But Rep. Doreen Gallegos, D-Las Cruces, right, said her vote for the bill was not recorded on the electronic tally board.
After that, the House amended the vote to 70-0, meaning all members approved it.
State senators previously approved a companion bill for the Spaceport. Each measure next moves to the other chamber.
Spaceport executives said the bills to limit liability from lawsuits would help make New Mexico’s $209 million space travel enterprise competitive with those in other states.
