The father of Gov. Susana Martinez died Monday.

The governor's staff said Jacobo "Jake" Martinez had Alzheimer's disease. He was 80.

He was a three-time Golden Gloves winner in the 1950s as an amateur boxer.

Jake Martinez was a veteran of the Korean War and served as a deputy sheriff in El Paso County, Texas.

Gov. Martinez's staff said her father will be buried at Fort Bliss in El Paso.
