School is back in session and so the scholastic music happenings are again piling up. Here's a rundown of some of them.
The application deadline for the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra's Concerto competition is Monday, January 9. For complete information, visit their website here:
https://www.epsyos.org/concerto-competition
The El Paso Flute Club's annual Flute Fest takes place on January 14. For artist information, details, and registration, visit their website here:
The next edition of YES/SI ( Young Educators Seminars- Sharing Information), for band directors of any age and experience or those on their way to being directors, takes place on Monday, January 9 at UTEP at 6:30 in room 101. The speaker is Cindy Bulloch, well-known middle school band director who taught the Nimitz JHS program in Odessa for many years. She's pretty good, just saying. Go check it out!
And the last ALL-STATE tryouts are this weekend for band and choir. Both are taking place in Midland. I'll have what results I hear up on the blog as they become available! Good luck to all competing students and their directors!

The EP Flute club link is not working. Is this just on my end? Is there another link?

Try it now, but paste it in-- the website is epflute, but the link goes to epflutes, with an 's', which is wrong!

When I checked it last, the link now works-- go figure....

I had to go back and look to see what you were referring to, but just for you, Andy, I reversed those two words! :-)
