EL PASO -- For three of the last four years, the biggest themes for the UTEP football team at Socorro have been constant: Who will be the kicker and can the defense get better?
In that sense, 2010 has a sense of familiarity. The Miners need the familiarity to end there.
There have been four consecutive seasons of defensive improvements, but it has come in such small increments as to be trivial. UTEP did a great job of answering the kicker question in 2007 and a reasonable one in 2009 but here it is again.
The storyline, as always, reads "Can UTEP become adequate on defense to complement an offense that should be prolific?"
