'Atta boy Derek! You and the Jones brother's, along with coach Kuglar can change the culture at UTEP. You won't regret this move - I'm proud of you (for what it's worth).

UTEP needs to win the recruiting battle within 200 miles of their campus, so get with other area recruits, and try to persuade them to stay or walk-on. There's no other way to change a program, as area residents will be more invested when local kids are doing well on the national scene.

Good luck!

Couldn't have said it any better,Pascal. Great job guys.

Great news for UTEP and El Paso. The UTSA commitment didn't make much sense given that Kugler was an NFL O-line coach and has so much history with UTEP. Derek can be in on the ground floor of a new era at UTEP and if anyone can help him get the skills necessary for the next level, it should be Kugler and his staff.

Awesome news! Love to see that Kugler is recruiting the homegrown talent. I hope there is a culture change coming at UTEP.

I'm glad the kid came back, but what is with the "academic" reasons? UTSA may be a better football program (better know coach), at the moment, and not a bad school, but academically, it ain't no UTEP.

Where is Franlin High School? Never heard of it!

Good job kid! You will do well here at home.
