For the second consecutive day Nathan Jeffery, who strained his groin on his last carry of the third quarter against Oklahoma, suited up but did not participate in Thursday's workout after the pre-practice stretch. But UTEP coach Mike Price said afterward he is still optimistic Jeffery will be a full go for Ole Miss Saturday evening.
"We're hoping he'll be fine," Price said. "We have until Saturday. He ran around, he got good work, we just didn't want him making major cuts as fast as he can."
Price also said he wasn't worried about Jeffery missing a full week of workouts.
"He's had 30 practices already," Price said.
Jeffery remains confident he'll be ready Saturday.
"It's getting better, it's a lot better than it was," he said. "I'll be close to 100 percent. (Not practicing) is always a worry with the speed and tempo."
Jeffery definitely won't be returning kickoffs, as those duties will fall to Mike Edwards, Autrey Golden and Xay Williams. The long-term plan this year was to phase the true freshmen in and Jeffery out of the kickoff return game and Jeffery's injury has pushed that to the short-term.

I ne¡¯er was truly hungry myself; were any of you? Bad Thorpe is in town: I dislike the view of him; his unbiased soul should feel very much.
