During the summer there is an expectation players will run informal practices to prepare for the season.
Linebacker Josh Fely came up with a different idea for an offseason event. The senior rounded up eight teammates and took a visit to the Providence Medical Center's children's unit to spread a little cheer.
"I was remembering old times, looking through my scrapbook from high school, and I thought this would be a good idea," Fely said. "I got a couple of teammates and went over there.
"They (the patients) were excited. We signed some posters, took pictures with them. This was fun for us, too. It takes you back, makes you greatful for everything and the position we are in today."
"It was great," said linebacker Jamie Irving, who was one of the nine players who made the trip. "I was thankful Josh Fely made it happen."
