Wiston Jeune, a UTEP grad who played safety for the New Mexico Bowl team, signed a contract Wednesday to play for the West Texas Roughnecks, according to Roughnecks head coach (and former El Paso head coach) Brian Brents.
Something to consider: If nothing else changes, there will be 14 teams in C-USA. That would leave two obvious solutions for a new format.
First, the 13th- and 14th-placed teams could be eliminated to leave the tournament as a four-round, 12-team affair.
The other, and probably more likely, thing to do would be to have preliminary 11 vs. 14 and 12 vs. 13 gams to cull the field to 12. That would make the tournament five days instead of four, unless C-USA has those games played on campus sites (in other words, the 11th and 12th seeds host the lower seeds two days before everyone convenes in El Paso).
