UTEP punt returner Anthony McGhee, who played error free and was fourth in the conference at 7.3 yards per return, has been kicked off the team for "conduct detrimental to the team," according to coach Mike Price. McGhee assumed primary returning duties when Travaun Nixon sprained his knee prior to the New Mexico State game.
Mike Edwards, who has yet to return a punt in a game but looked good at it in Camp Socorro, will assume those duties. Price insisted Nixon is the No. 2 against Southern Miss, so that should indicate he will be able to play safety.
And UTEP losses another young reciever. Hope there are more on the redshirt freshman team that are good and have their heads on straight. Good job Coach Price for keeping the team clean!
