Two El Paso stations have been nominated in this year's Lone Star Emmy Awards, to be given out Nov. 5 during a gala in Houston hosted by the the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' Lone Star chapter.
KFOX received two nominations, one for best evening newscast among smaller markets (61+) during the February freeze (news director Elizabeth O'Hara, executive producer Shauna Ziegler), and another for best morning/daytime newscast (producer Oscar Garcia).
KVIA reporters Paul Cicala, Angela Kocherga and cameraman Hugo Perez were nominated for their reporting on border issues.
Cicala was nominated for Feature News Report-Serious Series, for his three part series "Drug War Along El Paso's Border and How it Compares to Medellin, Colombia During the Pablo Escobar Era"
Kocherga and Perez, of the Belo Border Bureau, were nominated in the Crime-News Single Story/Series/Feature for their reports on Juarez paramedics; Specialty Assignment Report-News Series for their reports on border bloodshed; and On-camera Talent/Reporter-Specialty Assignment Report/Consumer/Medical for their reports on the drug war.

Also nominated was KVIA's sexy hunk of man-meat Raul Martinez for "Sexiest Bitch" in the state. He'll obviously win in a landslide.
